Background
Care professionals pressed for time, a growing demand for documentation and quality in treatment and care, and a steady increase in the number of patients staying in their own homes are all issues that require more focus and a determined effort to be effectively prioritised and acted upon.
As a care professional it is sometimes difficult to catch relevant danger signals in due time and to make a correct estimate of the time a patient can maximally lie down without the need of a transfer, which is the key factor in relation to determining the risk of pressure injuries.
Purpose/Vision
The purpose of the project is to design a solution that can be used by home patients. To this end, the needs, requirements, barriers and wishes of the municipalities (including organizational, procedural and technological issues) will be examined and assessed with the aim of providing support to remote observing/risk valuation of pressure ulcers with home patients. Secondary effects that may potentially support a more proactive and focused approach to the care area will also be clarified. Workshops with caregivers and managers will be carried out highlighting these issues and interviews with home patients, who have or have had pressure ulcers, will be conducted.
Expected Results
Based on the results of the needs assessment, the two companies, Compliant Concept AG and Medema A/S, will work together to further develop the selected solution in preparation for validation testing and, subsequently, for implementation on a larger scale.
